Notes: Grammie Sophie was brought to us under false pretenses. After an in-depth conversation with her former owner, we obtained an owner surrender, which means, she is IMMEDIATELY available for adoption.

👵 She is 11 years young, and some type of Terrier mix with a docked tail
✂️ She is spayed
🏠 She is housebroken, but is likely to have a couple accidents in a new environment
🐶 She has never been around other dogs
🐱 She has attempted to ☠️ cats in the past
She has been around kids of all ages
😴 She is crate trained, and likes to sleep in her own dog bed at night
She LOVES treats, which is why she has the proportions of a sausage
🎾 She LOVES any toy
🏃‍♀️ She is a runner! Like any Terrier, she wants to hunt little varmints and will also dig
She does NOT like pedicures, and will likely need to be muzzled for nail trims
🐕 Do not let her age fool you, this girl is STRONG and needs to learn some leash manners
😛She does whine, but we have not heard her bark yet

We will not be charging an adoption fee for Grammie Sophie. We simply just want a good, FOREVER home for our gold

ONE BY ONE One by one, they pass by my cage Too old, too worn, too broken, they say Way past his time, he can’t run and play They shake their heads and go on their way A little old man, arthritic and sore It seems that I am wanted no more I once had a home, I once had a bed A place that was warm, and where I was fed Now my muzzle is grey, and my eyes slowly fail Who wants a dog so old and so frail? My family decided I didn’t belong I got in their way, my attitude wrong Now I sit in this kennel, where day after day The younger ones are chosen and taken away When I had come to the end of my rope You saw my face and again I knew hope You saw past the grey, the legs wobbly with age And felt I deserved life beyond this cage You took me home, gave me food and a bed You gently stroked my poor tired head We snuggle and play, you talk to me low You love me so dearly, and make sure I know Although I have lived most of my life with another You outshine them with a love so much stronger I promise to return all the love I can give To you my dear friend, as long as I live I may be with you for a week, or for years We will share many smiles, and a few tears When the time comes, that God deems I must leave I know you will cry and your heart it will grieve When I arrive at the Bridge all brand new My thoughts and my heart will still be with you And I will brag to all who will hear Of the person who made my last days so dear.

• Adoption of dogs is open to residents of Bland, Pulaski, Montgomery, Craig and Giles County areas of Virginia.
• Dogs that have been spayed/neutered are available for adoption to any location including out of state residents.
• Adoption fee for a male dog is $170 and for a female dog is $170. Fee includes spay/neuter, basic vaccines and a microchip. We can only accept cash and check

We will not ‘hold’ or ‘reserve’ a dog by phone or e-mail or Facebook message. Make sure that you are able to take your dog home on the day you adopt it. We will not keep a dog for you after its ‘available’ day.
